Renewable energy in PR

Puerto Rico has many types of renewable energy, they go from hydroelectric, Eolic, or solar energy. In Puerto Rico 20 percent of the whole energy is renewable energy. The other 80 percent is consumed in the form of electric energy and is produced by gas or petroleum. Hydroelectric energy is found in Puerto Rico on the rivers La Plata and Dos Bocas.


 



These energy resources provide energy most of the time for adjacent cities. Solar and Aeolic energy are now available for people. In Puerto Rico, the Bacardi Company in Cataño has technology for Eolic energy producing electricity from the wind to the Company.


 


In the other hand, solar energy is the most commonly used form of renewable energy. Many houses in Puerto Rico are privileged with this type of technology. However, there are many cities that are looking forward to establish this type renewable energy. For example, the city of Bayamón has introduced solar energy as a part of their parking system with solar panels that produce energy for the parking lot. This technology allows hybrid cars to refuel instead of using gasoline for a standard car causing harm to the air and to the planet itself.


 

This proofs that renewable energy is expanding on many ways being implemented on many places in Puerto Rico. This technology helps the environment and takes less money from the country; this makes it a healthy and intelligent decision to use instead of petroleum based energy
